Shipping info

Generally, order production is complete within 4-8 weeks, and ready to ship out within a week after production completion.  Some items/orders will ship quicker, while some can take longer. Remember, these are hand-made, one-of-a-kind products made one-at-a-time, so please be patient while we fulfill your order.  It will be worth the wait!  Please see the time frames section below for more detailed info, and our policies page here:  https://greatnorthernlogworks.com/pages/our-policies.

Free freight shipping is to the nearest freight terminal (we'll let you know which ones we use), where you pick up your order after the freight company contacts you.  Call us to find out the terminal nearest you.  Free UPS shipping is generally to standard residential or commercial addresses.  Free freight and UPS shipping applies only to lower 48 US states.  Residential delivery available to most areas for an additional fee.  If you need a liftgate with a residential freight delivery, liftgate fees range from: $70-$175.  Additional fees may apply if your location (terminal, residential, or commercial) is considered remote or difficult access.   if Call or email us for a custom quote to a remote area, or for quotes to Alaska, Hawaii, or Canada.  Custom shipping quotes are good for (7) calendar days.  Store pick-up is always free.  All shipping fees subject to change at any time.

Shipping is done by freight company on heavy items (palletized) and UPS, FedEx, or USPS on smaller/lighter items. For residential deliveries, tailgate/curbside service is included, meaning the truck driver stops on your road and unloads your cargo at the back of the truck.  If you don't order a liftgate, you must be prepared to haul items into your home (a few extra hands from friends/neighbors/relatives helps).  We may be able to arrange inside delivery for a fee.  Again, special circumstances like remote area delivery may require an additional fee.  Please contact us for details.

For local pickup, terminal pickup, or roadside delivery, please remember to bring blankets, cardboard, straps and/or bungees, and any other necessary items in order to safely transport your products home without damage.

For terminal pickups and residential delivery, please be prepared to unpackage products from pallets. Bring a quality cordless drill with T25 AND  T30 star bits (and an extension, just in case), as well as something to cut the strapping, stretchwrap, and or cardboard.  

For terminal pickups, freight companies will usually store your shipment for up to (3) days free of charge, then start to charge a storage fee unless you make other arrangements with them.  They will call you when your shipment arrives at the dock.  They may even be able to forklift the pallet(s) directly onto your truck/trailer.

If you've selected residential delivery, the freight company will call you to arrange delivery only once the shipment reaches the destination terminal.  They make no guarantees as to delivery dates/times.  If your residence is in a remote or rural area, or if there is a backlog of shipments, the initial freight company may hire a smaller local delivery company to handle the final stage of delivery.  This is who will call you to arrange final delivery.

Damaged shipments-CRITICAL INFO

Always inspect all residential/commercial/terminal freight and UPS shipments for damage (big or small) BEFORE signing for or accepting packages.  In the unlikely event that a shipment arrives damaged, please inspect and note any damage/discrepancies on the bill of lading or receipt.  It's important to not rush this process.  Once you sign, it is your responsibility-neither Great Northern Logworks, Inc., nor the freight companies will reimburse you (or replace products) for shipping damage not noted before you sign to receive it.  "I didn't have time" is not a valid excuse.  You MUST be vigilant and make the time and effort...it's well worth it!  It can be a very costly mistake if you don't..  ***PLEASE NOTE:  this policy is directly from the freight companies, not Great Northern Logworks, Inc.  We cannot and will not change this policy.

Steps for dealing with damaged shipments:

  • Inspect ALL items and packages for damage
  • Note ANY discrepancies on bill of lading or receipt
  • Once you've made notations, sign for the items
  • Contact us IMMEDIATELY to report the damage
  • Send any pertinent images to us via email

We offer an estimated shipping time frame on all of our products at the time payment is received.  Some items will ship quicker, while some can take longer.  This is custom furniture, and we want to ensure that all items are made to our quality standards.  Some examples of things that could affect time frames are:

  • If a product doesn't pass our quality control it will be remade which could result in shipping times that are longer than estimated.  We will not substitute a solid product by sending you a rushed item.  
  • Special sales may also extend time frames due to extra demand.  
  • Weather issues can delay orders as well. 
  • Large orders or orders containing custom items are often difficult to estimate, which may extend time frames.

We do our best to meet or beat the time frames quoted while ensuring you will receive a product that you will love for the rest of your life.  We cannot guarantee transit times, as once your order leaves on the freight truck, freight companies will not guarantee delivery times.
